At Žurnál, we believe trust is the foundation of every relationship – including a digital one. That is why we handle personal data responsibly, transparently and fairly. In this document you will find what data we process about you, why, for how long, and what rights you have in this respect.

1. Who are we?

2. What data we process and why

We process data mainly so that we can:

  • process and deliver your order,
  • provide customer support,
  • send you news, if you have consented to this,
  • improve our website and services,
  • and in some cases comply with legal obligations (e.g. accounting).

Data we process:

  • Identification and contact details (name, address, email, phone)
  • Order and payment data
  • Technical data (IP address, cookies, device data)
  • Marketing preferences
  • Data from contact forms or reviews

Legal bases for processing:

  • conclusion and performance of a contract (order),
  • legitimate interest (e.g. direct marketing, website analytics),
  • consent (e.g. newsletter),
  • legal obligation (accounting, taxes).

3. How long we keep your data

  • Order data: 10 years (due to accounting legislation)
  • Newsletter: until consent is withdrawn
  • Contact form data: max. 30 days after the enquiry is resolved
  • Account data: until the account is closed or after a longer period of inactivity

4. Who has access to the data?

We do not sell data to third parties. However, we work with partners who help us run the online shop and with delivery, accounting or marketing. All of them are contractually bound and subject to the GDPR.

Regular partners:

  • Shopify (e-commerce platform)
  • Klaviyo (email marketing)
  • Google (Analytics, Ads)
  • Meta (Facebook, Instagram)
  • Judge.me (reviews)
  • Stripe (card payments)
  • SuperFaktúra and an external accountant (accounting)
  • SPS, Packeta and Slovenská pošta (Slovak Post) (delivery)

Some data may be transferred to third countries (e.g. the USA), but always only with adequate safeguards (e.g. EU standard contractual clauses).

5. Cookies and tracking technologies

To make our website work as well as possible for you and to help us keep improving it, we use small files called cookies.

Some are technically necessary (e.g. for logging in or managing the basket), others help us analyse traffic or show more relevant advertising. We process all of these files either on the basis of legitimate interest or on the basis of your consent.

What cookies do we use?

  • Necessary cookies – the website would not work without them (Shopify, security, basket)
  • Analytics cookies – track visitor behaviour (Google Analytics)
  • Marketing cookies – allow us to show you more relevant advertising (Meta/Facebook, Google Ads)

How can you change the settings?

We use a cookie banner where you can choose which cookies you want to allow. You can also change the settings at any time directly in your browser – you can find instructions, for example, at allaboutcookies.org.

How long do we keep cookies?

  • Necessary cookies: for the duration of the visit, some for up to 1 year (basket, login, security)
  • Analytics and marketing cookies: for no more than 13 months and only with your consent

6. Your rights under the GDPR

  • Right of access to personal data

  • Right to rectification of inaccurate data

  • Right to erasure (unless this conflicts with legal obligations)

  • Right to restriction of processing

  • Right to object to processing (e.g. in the case of marketing)

  • Right to data portability

  • Right to withdraw consent (e.g. to the newsletter)
