This notebook simply had to exist. Michal Pastier wrote a brutal 600-page book that has become the yellow bible of (not only) Slovak founders and marketers. So much know-how in one place kept even us busy for a week of reading. But there was so much to fix in our own Žurnál that we could not keep up with its pace. And there was not enough room for notes. So we put together a tried-and-tested companion to the book. It includes all the important exercises, but gives you the time and space to think about them afresh. On pages that will feel familiar thanks to the book, yet adapted for undisturbed journaling.

A companion to the yellow book, with all the key exercises

Mirror, Slap, Street, Tribe, Shortcut, AXIS, Name, Lighthouse, 4 Wheels, Catapult, Spotlight, Airship.

In the book, the 12 principles of brand building are divided into 3 phases. In the notebook, we didn't split them into phases, for an uninterrupted writing experience, and since you have the book for the theory, we filled all the space with the most practical worksheets. On top of that, we added 50 dotted pages for freely writing down your thoughts and ideas.

"Guys, wouldn't you like to turn this into a notebook?"

Michal Pastier needs no introduction. After all, who doesn't know the most successful campaigns in the history of Slovak marketing (you'll surely have spotted the lisping dog).

Michal recently wrote down his 15 years of experience from more than 250 new-brand projects in the Yellow Bible of Brand Building. It brings brand building and effective business together into one whole and, in twelve principles, answers the key question of our time:"How do you capture attention and sell in a world of chaos and split-second attention spans?"

Not only we, but everyone who read Michal's book missed a practical companion to it. So we put our heads together with Michal and the Yellow Notebook was born.

Carbon footprint

Even a paper notebook has a footprint. We calculated it for the whole of 2025 and divided it per item: DEFRA 2025 emission factors, transport by parcels, services and marketing by spend (GHG Protocol). We keep refining the method together with our suppliers.

≈ 1.2 kg CO₂e per notebook. Roughly like driving 7 km by car.

  • Transport to us0.09 kg · 8 %

  • Transport to you and packaging0.07 kg · 6 %

What we do about it

  • We print in Slovakia and Czechia. No air freight. Our warehouse sits next to the printer in Orava, so finished products do not travel for nothing.
  • We do not shrink-wrap diaries one by one. We use bulk packaging to cut down on plastic.
  • We ship in recycled cardboard and, when we can, in boxes our suppliers sent us goods in.
  • For trips and small transfers we book shared transport and BlaBlaCar.
  • We print to pre-orders. If something does not sell, it does not end up in the bin but in our outlet or in schools.

What you can do

  • Order more things at once. One parcel instead of three.
  • Choose a pickup point or locker instead of home delivery. So the courier does not drive out for a single parcel.
  • Buy second quality and sale items. We also work with production seconds. Everything usable is cheaper in our second quality section. You save money and rescue something that would not get a chance elsewhere.
  • Buy only what you will really use. The smallest footprint belongs to the diary that never had to be made.
