Those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it. Especially at moments like these, which are so important for our future. That is why we joined forces with the non-profit Post Bellum, which collects and documents the memories and testimonies of witnesses to key moments in modern Slovak history and passes them on. The result is a notebook that captures the rise of fascism in Europe, with Slovak context and accounts from people who vividly remember this dark period of our history.

Note: you won't find any daily priorities or monthly challenges in it. It is a special limited edition with artwork by the well-known illustrator Matúš Maťátko. All in classic Žurnál style, with 128 pages of quality paper for your notes. Mark the 80th anniversary of the Slovak National Uprising with us through real stories of the nation, not with pompous fighter jets, fireworks or an overpriced whip-cracking show.

A notebook full of the heroism, courage and hope of ordinary people

The Post Bellum notebook tells a story so cruel it seems impossible it lasted so long. The story of the rise of fascism in Europe, with the Slovak context and testimonies from people who lived through it. Each story is unique and captures the fate of a different person. Because modern history isn't just dates and terms, but above all a period in the lives of billions of people.

World and national history is made of the stories of ordinary people

Post Bellum in Slovakia has been documenting real stories of the 20th century since 2011. Together with the Czech Post Bellum, by 2024 they had recorded more than 17,000 stories, and the online archive www.memoryofnations.sk is one of the 3 largest oral history collections in the world. That's why you can read excerpts from these people's stories in this notebook.

Carbon footprint

Even a paper notebook has a footprint. We calculated it for the whole of 2025 and divided it per item: DEFRA 2025 emission factors, transport by parcels, services and marketing by spend (GHG Protocol). We keep refining the method together with our suppliers.

≈ 1.2 kg CO₂e per notebook. Roughly like driving 7 km by car.

What we do about it

  • We print in Slovakia and Czechia. No air freight. Our warehouse sits next to the printer in Orava, so finished products do not travel for nothing.
  • We do not shrink-wrap diaries one by one. We use bulk packaging to cut down on plastic.
  • We ship in recycled cardboard and, when we can, in boxes our suppliers sent us goods in.
  • For trips and small transfers we book shared transport and BlaBlaCar.
  • We print to pre-orders. If something does not sell, it does not end up in the bin but in our outlet or in schools.

What you can do

  • Order more things at once. One parcel instead of three.
  • Choose a pickup point or locker instead of home delivery. So the courier does not drive out for a single parcel.
  • Buy second quality and sale items. We also work with production seconds. Everything usable is cheaper in our second quality section. You save money and rescue something that would not get a chance elsewhere.
  • Buy only what you will really use. The smallest footprint belongs to the diary that never had to be made.

Why not add these too?

Honest. Local. Handcrafted

We stand for local production, ethical sourcing of materials and honest work. From the moment tonnes of paper arrive at our place until they turn into finished planners, notebooks or books, we think of just one thing: that you hold the most honest product possible in your hands.
