Article: How about a project vision?

Ako na projektovú víziu?

How about a project vision?

Personal and project vision must complement each other

We believe that you know enough from the Journal how much we work with a personal vision. Ten years. Five-year anniversary. Half term. Monthly. First, you describe your goals very abstractly, and the closer you are in time, the more concrete you make them.

It will be similar in Kreatívec. We won't go that deep, but we will ask you similar questions. For values. A ten-year vision. And its distribution into a 12-month plan.

Remember that project and personal vision must complement each other. Some journalists are not clear about it. They imagine themselves as the founder of a large startup, the author of a successful bestseller, the father of a family, an enthusiastic triathlete and also a voice for the change of Slovakia.

And that is of course excluded.

@Mišo, if you're reading this, congratulations :)

A visionary

At the beginning, we will ask you what your company values are:

  • Do you have them written down somewhere?
  • Can you name them?
  • Do you choose your teammates accordingly?

You can choose the values according to the personal values of the team members. Our online 101 values exercise will help you with this.

Or you can be inspired by our values. We do not hide them, on the contrary. We decided a long time ago that they are:

  1. Honesty
  2. Craftsmanship
  3. Respect for nature
  4. Learning
  5. Humor

Right after that, you will answer a question about your 10-year vision. There won't be as much space for it as in the Journal, and the questions won't be as suggestive either, but there's no need for that. All you have to do is close your eyes and imagine your project in 10 years.

  • What image do you see?
  • How does that make you feel?
  • What are you working on?
  • With who?

You will have a whole page to describe team members, your contractors, suppliers and list your responsibilities. What is each of you responsible for?

  • Think about the fact that you will have different competencies divided between product development, sales, marketing or finance.
  • But above all that, you'll need a visionary to give direction.
  • And also an integrator, who fulfills the function of a tightener and controller of others.

But I'm already a bit ahead of EOS, which you'll get to know in the next part :)

Project manager

We do not complicate your annual planning in any way. A simple timeline awaits you in the Project Manager section. And all we want from you is to divide the next 12 months into stages:

  • What do you have to do first?
  • What will you do next quarter?
  • What about the third one?
  • And what about the last one?

Don't focus on small micro-tasks (like contacting Michal for cooperation), but on big stages (like setting up a team of advisors for strategic decisions).

According to EOS, but also according to us, one stage has exactly 90 days, i.e. 12+1 weeks. Why? Because one quarter is not too much for ambitious plans, but not too little for an operation either.

This is how we have been working in Žurnál since the very beginning. And we've gotten so used to quarterly books that it would be hard to imagine without them :)
